Axiom Design Build is a Seattle-based design build firm with a niche focus on innovative design, creative remodeling, and quality construction services. Axiom is an architecture firm and a general contracting firm with hundreds of projects in the Pacific Northwest. Since year 2000, Axiom has worked with homeowners and business owners to create eye-popping spaces. Axiom’s design team provides clients with project feasibility, schematic / conceptual design, project programs, design development, permitting services, interior design, construction drawings and preliminary budgeting. On the build side Axiom executes construction details from budgeting and scheduling, to project management, to framing and carpentry, to quality finish work. Our entire team works under the guidance of a staff architect, in-house project management and most importantly our clients. Whether the project is a residential remodel or a custom commercial building, Axiom approaches each job with quality, safety, creativity and professionalism.
John is keen on simple, straightforward design. If the industrial elements of a material are exposed through architecture, he’s smiling. He also thrives on the unnatural elements of balancing budgets and cool design. John is the in-house architect at Axiom, but he’s also a project manager, mentor, marketer and master craftsman. Since the age of eight he knew his destiny was architecture. He will tinker with anything buildable, and if you give the man a map, he’ll scoot. He loves to travel, play guitar, cook, and explore the world with his family. He is the ultimate urban dude—and his nickname is J-Cash. John has a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a BA in Architecture from University of Wisconsin.
Heather is a northwest native—in fact she might be related to half of Bellingham. Maybe that’s why she married a guy from Wisconsin. She is the queen of multi-tasking and her desk is often living proof of that. Heather rolls, whether traveling, working or hitting the town. Tired she is not! She is instrumental in coordinating specifications and construction budgets, as well as co-managing the business. Heather has an eclectic design style, playing on color, texture, and a hint of the unexpected, which is translated across both modern and traditional design. She loves to travel, shoot pictures, collect art and be creative. She is the mom of two kids, Ella and Oscar. Heather has a BA in Journalism from Arizona State University, and studied for three years post-graduate at the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle.
Warren makes things happen at Axiom, which is why his shoes are always dirty. He is the down-to-earth, professional go-to guy. He gets projects going with enthusiasm and keeps them moving. Warren joined Axiom in 2004 as a carpenter, and now manages all construction operations. He is a master of quality control, cost details, and project scheduling. Warren is also a master of Karate, but we have yet to see him split a 2x4 with his bare hands. Keeping our clients in the know is one of his many priorities, and he executes design build brilliantly. Ask Warren if it’s possible, and he’ll say for sure. And then he’ll find a way.
Erica will always get to it. She’ll pull an all-nighter if she needs to, and smile when she comes in the next morning. She is organized, polite and incessantly tidy which is why her desk is in sight with the front door at Axiom. As a self proclaimed fanatic of 1980s comedy, she approaches tasks with a hearty dose of humor and a great attitude. Erica manages the specifications of our projects, updates plans, drafts interior elevations, assists with vendor orders and coordinates the details of design and construction. She’ll tell you straight-up that her favorite part of the job is working with our clients to create the best possible spaces. She has a BA in Public Relations /Studio Art from University of the Pacific, and has an Interior Design degree from Seattle Art Institute.
Marlo is incredibly talented in the design and drafting trades, from ArchiCad to as-builts. She loves the architectural elements of her job, but really digs the design build duo. Seeing projects morph through design and into construction is what she loves about working at Axiom. She is a pit bull with the permit process, and speaks brilliantly not only in English, but in Italian too! She’s rather humble about it but she can also make a mean Italian meal. Marlo has a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, and a BA in Architecture from Smith College.
Rob brings energy to every job he works on. He is upbeat and positive, and always has a funny story. Rob has numerous skills from door installation to client communication to framing walls and setting tile. He has enthusiasm for life and for the design build trade. When he’s not hard at work for Axiom he’s enjoying the outdoors, rocking out to heavy metal, being a dad or on his bike. You may also catch him at a Seahawks game wielding a giant foam claw…but we won’t get into that!
Miguel is an all-around player at Axiom. He is on our job sites each morning eagerly waiting for the next task, whether it involves demolition, carpentry, maintenance or site work. He always has a smile and rarely looks up from his work long enough for anyone to see it! Miguel has a fearless attitude and is committed to everything he does. He is a devoted dad to four youngsters, a happy camper, a keyboardist in the choir, and simply a good soul.
