Queen Anne Spanish Revival Remodel

This Queen Anne condo remodel was all about mood. The building's 100 year-old Spanish revival architecture, laden with richly patinaed tile flooring and heavy impasto stucco, called out for an interior that resonated with the same old-world charm.

Removing the dated surfaces, fixtures and bulky storage, while adding custom built-ins and a clever floating bar top for seating, helped improve the flow and functionality of the kitchen.

The bathroom's small footprint felt even smaller with the original blocky built-in tub, surrounded on three sides in drab green tile. Introducing a free-standing soaking tub and wall-mounted sinkĀ  gives the bathroom a more spacious feeling. Instead of smooth drywall the walls were resurfaced with plaster to echo the home's original plaster work, and a narrow mosaic inlay adds just the right pop of fun. The simple black and white tones add a sense of elegance, refinement and calm.

The completed remodel of the kitchen and bathroom introduced a more spacious feel and celebration of materials befitting the homeowner's personal aesthetic.
