Building in
Fremont.

Fremont homeowners aren't afraid of a strong point of view. The neighborhood has always attracted people who think carefully about design, and our best projects here have come from that same sensibility — clients who arrived with real clarity about what they wanted and needed a builder capable of executing it without watering it down.

The Fremont Color House is the clearest illustration of how we work in this neighborhood. The clients came with a specific material direction: cobalt blue custom cabinetry on the pantry wall, warm maple on the lower cabinets and floors, white quartz, a tile backsplash that supported rather than competed with the palette. Nothing about that combination is safe or predictable, and executing it required precise millwork tolerances, a painter who understood the difference between correct and close, and a project manager who could hold all of it together on a schedule that actually reflected reality. We delivered on all of it.

Fremont's housing stock is varied — a mix of early bungalows along the north slope of Queen Anne's skirt, mid-century apartments that have been converted or subdivided over the years, and more recent construction in the flatter streets north of the Ship Canal. The variation means there's no standard Fremont project. Each one starts with a genuine assessment of what the existing building can support and what the client actually needs.

One thing Fremont projects have in common: the neighborhood's creative culture tends to attract clients who want to be involved in the design process. We welcome that. Our design-build model is specifically structured to accommodate clients who have strong opinions — there's no handoff from architect to contractor where something gets lost in translation, because they're the same team throughout.

Fremont's proximity to the Ship Canal means some properties in the neighborhood are in FEMA-mapped flood zones, particularly the blocks immediately north of the canal. This affects both building code requirements and insurance implications, and it's worth understanding before you invest in design on a flood-zone parcel.
